IBM has no commitment to keep working with Cyrix beyond their current contracts. If IBM were so married to Cyrix why aren't they using the parts in their own PCs? IBM has many divisions, the little bit of business that making and selling Cyrix chips amounts to for the components division is hardly a big strategic consideration for the corporate giant.

Why do some people question whether the M2 will be out on time? It could just be because Cyrix has a proven tract record of not meeting their annunced roll-out dates. Check the history of development of the M1 - missed production schedules totaling about 18 months! A lot of us will be surprised if Cyrix makes delivery of significant quantities of parts this coming quarter.
