Greg, that's a great article, and a must read for all Dell investors -- whether bear or bull. It almost exactly mirrors the arguments I have been making to Gary and others over the past year in explaining how a just a box maker (apologies to JBN3!) assembling a commodity product commands such a large premium over its rivals. This is the essence of the barrier to entry, and it has nothing to do with the product or how it is assembled. It is entirely due to the distribution conundrum. IBM, Compaq and HP dare not get rid of their intermediate channels. As LOD put it some months ago, they cannot get off the tiger.

Many thanks for this find.

Have you read this article Techie, LT and Jim Patterson??
