jbn, you forgot our own elections, what a better backdrop than a rising market to go into an election (the actual level does not matter, it is the recent direction that counts). My model actually took this into account, and the ammunition generated may be wasted by election time. Could AG be an agent of the republicans (VBG). Without his action, rumors of a fed easing on November 17 (the FOMC normal meeting) would have cause a rally starting early in November just in time for the election. Could it be the FED's advanced that date so that by election we are in the backing and filling stages, not necessarily "ascending". Just because I am paranoid, it does not means I am not being followed (VBG). Zeev
