Paul , you might understand technology to some degree but you really don't understand business . AMD has orchestrated a very intelligent plan . 1. Design a CPU with high performance in a smaller die size than Intel. 2. Ramp up production and gain market share , courtesy of the large PC cos. and thus establish AMD in the public consciousness (without a huge Intel like advertising bill) 3. When sufficient volume has been achieved to pay for fixed costs introduce progressively higher performance processors with greater profit margins . We are at point 3 now . Brian
