The fact is CDMA is in many countries arround the world. It is growing
at a fast rate. It has many contract's and licencee's. Qcom is on the verge of finishing work on CDMA2000, and will start upgrading it's current liscencee's. CDMA is a force(or will be)in Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Japan, USA, Russia, most of Latin America, India and small part's of Africa. They are not going the way of Betamax. As far as I am concerned the WCDMA issue is signifigent, but not essentiall for Qcom's growth. This is for two reason's. 1)because CDMA2000 will be ready way ahead of WCDMA, and will already be implemented whille ETSI spew's more Rhetoric. 2)Qcom's patent's will create value to some degree. Though maybee not at 5% it will still impact the bottom line. As time goes on and sales of ASIC and handset's increase this revenue will become much less signifigent. 3)WCDMA though probably victorious in Europe will not succeed in the USA, where CDMA clearly has a huge momentum building up(and an open competitive system where CDMA can flourish). Thus when I mean Gravey, I mean CDMA has meat and potatoes on the plate, and it would be nice to have some gravey too. However they still have a good meal without it. The CDMA story may be slowed or hampered, but it will not be destroyed by WCDMA
