There's lots of things outside of WinStars control that can hammer the stock price.

For instance, on CNBC yesterday, they were talking in particular on stocks held by Barrons Asset Management funds. There's rumors abound that since these funds have lost something like 30% in the last month, that these funds are going to have to start selling stocks. Other fund managers who happen to know what stocks the Barron funds are holding start shorting these stocks knowing that when Barrons start selling their position there will be downward pressure on the stock. These stocks were already down substantially and are now getting the 1-2 punch, shorting and more selling. It seems conceivable that the small cap type of funds that buy story stocks like WinStar could be facing very similar type of problems, since most small cap stocks have been beat up so bad.

But it still doesn't answer the question why MCLD, ICIX, ICGX, NXLK, etc are outperforming WinStar so bad the last couple days.

PS Another nice call by Stepanie. Put a strong buy on GST when it was probably 12, and now downgrade it at 4. What the hecks the point downgrading a stock after it's already down 67%.
