INS Unveils Two New Packaged Solutions to Increase the Effectiveness Of Enterprise Applications
October 15, 1998 05:42 PM
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- International Network Services INSS , a global provider of enterprise network consulting and software, today unveiled a suite of network professional services designed to help clients reduce the risks associated with deploying new enterprise applications while improving the performance of existing systems.
In addition, the company announced the general availability of a new member of the EnterprisePRO family of proactive management solutions aimed at supporting the planning, design, deployment, and ongoing operation of enterprise applications.
Leveraging the Infrastructure
For enterprise-wide business applications such as ERP, supply chain, sales automation or document management systems, a critical factor in their ultimate success is the condition of the underlying network. Oftentimes, such applications are deployed across network infrastructures that are incapable of supporting them. INS is uniquely positioned to address this challenge by leveraging its extensive experience working in large-scale, complex internetworking environments and extending its EnterprisePRO performance management solution to include application-level monitoring of business applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and others.
"Many INS clients are implementing or considering ERP and supply chain software packages to improve their business operations," said John Drew, President and Chief Executive Officer of INS. "INS can provide both the networking tools and services to meet this need and help clients ensure the success of these projects."
Network Application Readiness Program
INS' new Network Application Readiness (NAR) program provides detailed analysis, practical plans, thorough project management, and reliable assistance to organizations attempting to implement or administer enterprise applications under "real world" conditions. Under this program, INS consultants will use sophisticated modeling and capacity planning techniques to evaluate the ability of a client's network infrastructure to accommodate new business applications, or diagnose performance problems in existing operations. INS engineers will also be available to assist clients in upgrading their network facilities and supporting their ongoing operations to ensure greater application availability and effectiveness. Specifically, the NAR program includes:
* Pre-deployment application profiling, predictive modeling, and capacity planning * Application/network compatibility assessment and optimization * Network design, planning and reconfiguration * Implementation and project management expertise * Ongoing operations support
The services are based on INS' best practices experiences in similar engagements and leverage the company's structured service delivery methodology to ensure consistent, quality results.
EnterprisePRO Application Monitoring
INS is simultaneously introducing a new addition to its family of web-based EnterprisePRO packaged management solutions. The new Application Monitoring package enables clients to monitor and measure application activity across the enterprise, and optimize the performance of their enterprise networks.
Application Monitoring leverages the EnterprisePRO web-based data retrieval and warehousing architecture and employs RMON2-based monitoring of application traffic. In addition, users can take advantage of the on-demand access to customized reports to meet a broad range of monitoring needs. These flexible reports enable users at various levels of an organization to better align the performance of their networks to the specific applications.
"Until now, organizations could not monitor and measure application-level activity across their enterprise networks," reported Steve Waldbusser, Principal Architect of INS' EnterprisePRO solutions. "We are pleased to extend our web-based reporting capabilities to the application layer of clients' operations to help them realize the return on investment promised by ERP and supply-chain vendors."
EnterprisePRO Application Monitoring allows any standard, proprietary, or custom TCP/IP application to be monitored. A standard set of applications is provided. In addition, the administrator can add new protocols through an easy-to-use web interface.
Both the NAR program and EnterprisePRO Application Monitoring module are available immediately. They can be obtained together or separately, depending on client requirements, and are priced based on the size and complexity of a client's application and network.
