Yes it is, except for your congregation, apparently. There is no virtue in suffering, as you seem to imply. Suffering does not bring you any closer to God. God is to be found just as much in joy as he is in suffering.
<<The lord is the perfect choice for this my friend.>> That may or may not be, but if you think that teaching children about god is a sure fire source of protection from the problems of society, you are mistaken. Again, look at many chruch going folk(from any religion, I am not limiting this to christians)There are many kids, with parents who practice their religion withgreat sincerity, who unfortunately rebel, who unfortunately will suffer in some way(as you said, it is part of life)
