we have seen a major shift amongst the larger banks,
specifically toward tightening credit standards,

YES - Of course the credit tightening is for the viable small biz and individuals AND NOT for the hedge funds.

I would be willing to bet that the banks continue lending to hedge funds to TRY and recover their losses just as any stock market investor or gambler contimues to invest / gamble with higher stakes to try and recover their losses. They all need to go to Investor / Gambler anonymous meetings.

And talking about credit crunch, I have a personal experience where I have reduced a commercial property loan over 12 years from 6-units to 2 units with guaranteed rent by an NYSE co.(incl. biz interruption insurance) and yet I have problems getting it refinanced at the current low rates.

When you find you are being blatantly discriminated against, where you offer the best security and yet cannot get a loan but the hedge funds can, then you will be just as frustrated if not more.

Of course the reason the banks (all combined) lend to hedge funds is because they know the govt. will come to their aid. And if they fail then the taxpayers HAVE TO come to their aid.

Thats what makes Libertarians.
