This is a step in the right direction, as last year's earnings were $2.3 million. Unfortunately, w/ fewer share o/s, that translated to 19.5 cents/share vs. the 7.8 cents/share you've calculated for 1996.
If the dilution stops, we should see that 7.8 number built on in the future.
As far as keeping up the earnings growth, one would think so as they appear to be positioned quite nicely to benefit from China's continuing industrialization and economic modernization. Obviously, in dealing w/ agricultural commodities, they will see some fluctuation due to pricing swings, but overall things should continue nicely.
As far as political risk, I really can't comment on due to a lack of knowledge of what truly goes on in China and w/ its absorption of Hong Kong. Anybody want to put forth their opinions on that one?
