Raj,

You make an interesting point about INTEL being the competition for itself. It's true. There is a difference between cars, COKE/PEPSI, and computers, however. The difference is that cars wear out and must be replaced, COKE/PEPSI gets consumed and must be replaced, but computers don't wear out (at least not quickly) and must become OBSOLETE in order to get customers to replace them. That's why INTEL must keep coming up with newer and better...otherwise there is no reason to replace a PC. Heck, I still have an old 8088 running a special thing that it did and still does well.

I still think that the next great area of computing will be in voice recognition. Only educated people can use a computer now...you have to be able to at least read and write marginally well. There are MANY Joe-Six-Packs who, quietly and unadmittedly, cannot read or write well and thus avoid the computer revolution. Once you can just talk to it, there will be a whole new market.

By the way, computers are like dentistry. Only 50% of Americans visit a dentist regularly. The OTHER 50% are the potential market for computer growth.
