I am sorry but if you can not see the improvement in society, you are blind.
There is war and there always been, but now people actually understand that dying for your country is NOT an honor, but dying. nothing more or less. I am not saying there arent issues worth risking your life over, but most wars are not even remotely about those issues.
However, In your own words, "slavery has been abolished but prejudice still exists". First of all, that is progress. Second of all, there is much less prejudice and as long as people communicate openly and honestly, there will ocntinue to be less and less. that is progress, wheather yu admit to it or not.
