John, Re SGI Marketing - there's no question that their marketing continues to be poor, despite and including this article you post. The fact that we have to visit their website to watch them 'toot their horn' (who would'nt) speaks for itself. I normally keep an eye, ear and other senses out watching for any news/articles from SGI, 'tooting their horn', but the fact is, I did not see this article until you (an employee) pointed it out.
They should toot their horn from the moon, loud and clear. I don't see this happening. What's most disappointing is, often, on Discovery channel or somesuch, there are documentaries on things (e.g: Oil Exploration, Space research, Weather modelling, etc) that are show computer screens and even boxes which are (only if you look closely) SGI boxes - but nobody would know because SGI did not have a hand in making their name heard there. SImilarly, during Pathfinder, the pathfinder website itself did not say that SGI made something good happen there.
SGI had to say it on their website, quietly ('classily?')
I am very very long SGI - from 1995 - and it hurts, but I still hope, against all odds. This investment will define who I am, at the end of it all.!! |
