Its has to do with how you count Megabytes....

Metric System says a Mega Byte is 10^6 bytes or 1,000,000 Bytes

Computer guys like me refer to everything based on powers of 2. So 1M is 2^20 or 1048576 Bytes or 100,000 in Hexadecimal.

Marketing Guys are Going to use 10^6 because the marketing # is bigger. Software and Hardware is using 2^20 which is larger than a million bytes. so the size they report is always smaller. nothing is wrong.

Techincally 10^6 is the correct Metric definition.

Hope this makes sense.
