It's Official, Passport2 Multi-Player Games are Now Free, No Kidding
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Legacy Software(R) (Nasdaq: LGCY) announced that its family network of multi-player games, at www.Passport2.com, are now free. Launched approximately one year ago, more than 10,000 customers have downloaded the five online games, which previously cost $4.95/month for unlimited play. The games that are available are bridge, (both contract and duplicate), backgammon, chess, Intelligentsia trivia, and Spell-O-Rama, the first multi-player educational game on the internet. "We are committed to growing the community of gameplayers who enjoy our robust, traditional games. As long as the online gaming business remains so volatile, we think our best strategy is to make gameplaying free and generate revenue from advertising and co-marketing agreements, such as those we have in place with AT&T WorldNet, Earthlink, and The New York Times on the Web." The Passport2 Network is based on proprietary client server technology, which allows up to 300 players per server to participate simultaneously via a fast and dependable multiplayer computer network. It includes multiple types of chat, as well as artificially intelligent robot players. Developed for Windows95, Passport2 incorporates a modular approach that customizes and distributes applications to individual servers. Individual technology modules include: matchmaking services, chat services, membership system, inventory control system, service logging/reporting, tournament system, and billing service, all of which are available for licensing to third parties.
