Market LOS ANGELES, and SQUAMISH, B.C., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Legacy
Software(R) Inc.(Nasdaq: LGCY) and Black Tusk Interactive, Inc. announced that
they have signed a letter of intent to Joint Venture the development and
publishing of high production value, educational software. Black Tusk has, as
part of a financing program totaling US $3.5 Million, agreed to make a direct
equity investment in Legacy upon completion of due diligence.
"Legacy looks forward to working with Bob Kline, BTI's noted educational
technologist and award winning teacher, who clearly has a complementary
product approach. Our joint efforts represent not only an enhanced team but
also a well funded approach to penetrating the marketplace," said Legacy's
Chairman and President, Dr. Ariella Lehrer.
As detailed in the letter of intent, the joint venture program will
comprise up to four product-oriented joint ventures, including new titles in
Legacy's best-selling Real Play(TM) series -- "Emergency Room"(TM) and "D.A.
Pursuit of Justice"(TM). Each joint venture will also have a small number of
outside investors. Legacy's popular "Emergency Room"(TM) series, which has
sold well over 200,000 units to date, puts you in the role of a doctor and is
an accurate medical simulation as well as a game. In "D.A. Pursuit of
Justice"(TM), you are the district attorney whose job it is to prosecute three
criminal cases of increasing difficulty. In 1997, "D.A." won "Best New
Simulation" from Games Magazine and "Best Home Learning Software Award" from
Technology and Learning Magazine. In addition, "D.A. Pursuit of Justice" was
awarded 18 units of continuing education credit by the California Bar
Association. Both "Emergency Room Intern" and "D.A. Pursuit of Justice" are
distributed in the consumer retail channel by Alpha Software.
"Legacy's work to date, which employs Real Play(TM) product concepts and
gaming platforms, mirrors our approach to the future of interactive
educational tools," said Edward C. Andercheck, Director and cofounder of BTI
with Kline. He characterized the production joint venture as "The best
solution to the complex challenge of financing the development of our new DVD
products focused on the Earth's resources and breathtaking landscapes, for
delivery to the market in 1999 and 2000." BTI's creative team includes the
highly-respected Munich naturalist and filmmaker Gogol Lobmayr.
BTI is a publisher of interactive software for education and
entertainment. This field, also known as "edutainment," is the fastest
growing market within the entire interactive software marketplace, and is
expected to represent about 27% of the total marketplace (January 19, 1998
report by International Data Corporation).
Legacy Software is a leading developer of interactive consumer CD-ROMs,
including the award-winning RealPlay(TM) titles, "Emergency Room"(TM) and
"D.A. Pursuit of Justice"(TM). Legacy also offers the Passport2 Network and
