I like the thrust of this thread and I think you have made valuable suggestions for added criteria. I am disturbed that you have chosen Novell as your favorite pick. I accept the value parameters, but I believe the key statement is "...Novell has a market share of the industry of 65% which may shrink to 50% but they still dominate their industry." If anyone believed that they now dominate or will continue to dominate in the future, then the value criteria would not be met.
The market believes that NT dominates and will dominate and that Novell is a has been. So we arrive at the key problem in Graham-Dodd value investing, does Novell deserve its low price because its future prospects are dim or is it truly undervalued? I have no opinion, but I would like to hear more or yours.
