I don't share the same view as your's "SONET is an old technology"
in your latest post. It is true SONET has been around for some time
now. And everyone is using it whether in the old telephony world or
in the new data networking world. The packet over sonet and atm over
sonet are wildly deployed by internet over the world.

Let me know what are those new technology that is deployed are better
than SONET.
