Tellabs CEO/founder Michael Birck will appear on CNBC Squawk Box
this Monday. 10/19/98

Expect MB to do the following:

1) Reassure investors that the outlook for capital equipment spending
in the telecom. industry remains favorable for TLAB.

2)TLAB is comfortable with EPS projections of .58 in the 4th qtr.

3)and that TLAB is also comfortable with the analysts projection
of $2.35 for 1999. (He mentioned on the cc that $2.40 or more)

4) Announcement of double-size version of its Titan SONET product
which TLAB will begin to ship in 4Q.

5) Release of ATM product along with DSP technologies coming from
coherent and Virginia facilities.

6) Basically, Birck will addressed or give us a clue of Product
Strategy.This will reassure investor that the future of TLAB will not
depend on TITAN and Martis forever. i.e. TLAB does and will have other
bullets in their guns.

7) Increased Customer Activities. (Service). (25mil in Q3)
TLAB will put much emphasis on these activities besides break/fix,
returns, installations, etc. Emphasis will be based on a more proactive approach.
i.e. Consultation on their products in the form
of customer support activities. Also how they will change
the reporting of such activities in the future.

8) Obviously, the parting with CIEN.

9) The rest, we will all just have to wait and watch.

I own tons of TLAB at a very cheap price and Christmas just came 2 months early :-)
