Did anyone claim otherwise?

What I do assert (as does the Barron's article) is that Texaco, Exxon etc. etc. have a longer time horizon than "now" and are already lining up their moves for when petroleum is not plentiful.

I am surmising that in addition to a cost effective method for dealing with refinery bottoms, Texaco considers that the experience gained with GTL will be highly useful in the future when petroleum is no longer readily available.

Do you seriously doubt that?
