at least read the facts, in the above article there are two key things presented:
1. In the SPs' very high-end Router segment of the mkt, there are much more competitions unlike a yr or two ago. These startups have products that are in fact have better performance than csco or LU. Most engs in these startups are from CSCO, Bay and COMS, so they know what they're doing. LU with their PacketStar IP Router is competing comparably with 12000. Where is CSCO version of competitive products to LU such as the equivalency of 5E and 4E switches?
And, from looking at this, IMO, it's even more concern for csco, not only in the Enterprise segment of the mkt where the startups such as Extreme, Foundry and Packet Engines are taking some share of csco, in the SP area now we have NetCore, Avici and Juniper very likely doing the same. Adding to this is the giant like LU coming out with comparable products.
2. Pay attention to last paragraph of what MCI said, they need more and more bandwidth and performance. This does not bode well for 12000 as it has capacity of only 60G where the two startups that MCI is also benchmarking have more than 100G.
Now, what is the response to that, at least have a little civility and mature enough and for other thread listeners benefit, post a little csco related facts to this post. Do not just say csco is a gorilla in the mkt. It's like a kid saying my daddy will beat you up. |
