I may be off base, but you are not even in the park.
First, the reference to Caligula (partly facetious) is to Caligula's reputed, shall we say unorthodox, sexual mores.
I'd hardly call the Nazi's squeaky clean. Goering was a heroin addict, Roehm a homosexual and Hitler had a penchant for murdering real or suspected opponents. Himmler, Goebbels, Hess, etc. all had their own rather serious foibles. The regime itself was psychotic. However, it was not the loose sexual mores of the Nazis to which I referred. I was referring to the acceptance by large sectors of the German population of the kinds of acts Hitler perpetrated on his opponents and the Jews which were not opposed in the name of the economic revival and the nationalism Hitler brought to the Weimar Republic. Evil is evil and must be identified as such and promptly rooted out before its roots are allowed to take firm hold in the soil even if it is economically painful. Acceptance of a lying, perjuring, obstructing, womanizing, adultering pig in the WH is a very serious indicator of a large problem with the way our society views the nature of politics. IMO opinion we must reverse the trend of moral relativism which even makes this discussion necessary. Babies have babies. Babies murdering other babies. Materialism over spiritualism. These are all symptoms, just as the Bubbagates are, of a sickening society. JLA |
