What's truly funny about this whole Pinochet thing is that all the center-left governments ruling Europe can score a cheap easy victory and bolster their leftwing creds at no real cost...nailing Pinochet won't cost them a dime and won't alienate the British government's centrist supporters. The government's of France, Germany, Sweden, and Italy can all join in calling for Pinochet's trial. Why the hell would they care whether some Latin American thug gets his just due? The U.S. bankrolled him, not the Europeans. Bottom line for Pinochet: you should have gotten your operation in the U.S., sucker. They might have overcharged you here, but they wouldn't arrest you for murder. I am not a religious person and rarely pray, but tonight I will pray that the creepy SOB's neck snaps as he hangs from the gallows.
