"very few" is too vague. Certainly there are more than 3 or 4 abortions per year in Europe. Some more specific, even rounded numbers would be desirable here, before we start examining what we want to imitate in Europe.

Actually the Westen culture is far more saturated with sex. If you've been to Europe, you might notice. American culture and media is totally saturated with sex sex and more sex. It's an obsession. In Europe, they aren't obsessed with sex. There are some different attitudes though, but they aren't necessarily sex related. For example you will see female bathroom attendents in Europe. Similarly you will see female sauna attendents in the dressing room, where men are coming out of the sauna nude. But it's not a sexual thing, its a blase attitude towards nudity. Now in sex-drenched America, people wouldn't go for that (opposite-sex washroom attendents). Well the men might, but I wonder how many women would. jbe, Michelle? waddya say? :-)

I don't know what you are talking about here. "few are interested in promoting better methods, except one"? I can't speak on behalf of the Catholic Church or the pope, and I'm not Catholic, but I'm all for birth control, pre-conception. I'm not in favor of handing out condoms to school-age kids though.
Killing babies is wrong. Anyone who would try to justify abortion because they heard that someone was opposed to some methods of birth control is simply grasping for excuses. |
