Dell Recognizes ON Command CCM as a Preferred Configuration Management and Software Deployment Solution for Automating New PC Roll-Outs, Deploying Year 2000 Fixes and Helping to Reduce Total Cost of Ownership
ON Technology Corporation ONTC today announced it has joined the Dell OpenManage Alliance(TM) to deliver advanced "Managed PC" solutions to Dell Computer Corporation DELL enterprise customers. Through the alliance, ON Command CCM(TM) (Comprehensive Client Manager) has been enhanced to provide advanced configuration management and software deployment solutions for Dell systems. ON Command CCM's unique technology, when used in conjunction with the Dell OpenManage(TM) systems management features of Dell's OptiPlex desktop, Latitude portable and Precision WorkStation systems, provides automated new PC roll-outs, deployment of Year 2000 fixes and updates, and continuous configuration management throughout the PC lifecycle .
Delivering on the Promise of "Managed PCs"
The combination of ON Command CCM and Dell's OpenManage systems management technologies provides Dell customers with ready-to-run, managed PCs. Both ON Technology and Dell support Intel's Wired for Management (WfM) standard, including the Pre-boot eXecution Environment (PXE), Remote Wake Up (RWU) and Desktop Management Interface 2.0 (DMI 2.0). ON Command CCM's unique technology allows IT organizations to install and configure Microsoft operating systems on new WfM-enabled PCs out-of-the-box, deploy Y2K BIOS updates to existing PCs, and install both in-house and shrink-wrapped applications in a completely unattended manner on hundreds and thousands of PCs simultaneously.
