They diverted the P5 team to Merced development, which left them with only one x86 design team and greatly extended the time between processor generations. Tiny AMD has two x86 design teams. Intel used to have two, but now they only have one. I find that astonishing. What? Only one x86 design team? Really? I guess I can go home now and tell my colleges at several other sites we're all out of work... Haim
