Stitch, Marty,
MKE has done QNTM's drive assembly/manufacturing since about 1985 or so. When QNTM bought DEC's drive division, they (QNTM) tried to keep DEC's manufacturing capacity for high end drives and heads. They couldn't make it work, and turned over the drive part to MKE. Then, a year or so later, they formed the JV with MKE for the heads division as well, selling 51% to MKE. That is where matters stand right now.
