LANGHORNE, Pa., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Garrett U. Cohn, President of
Digital Descriptor Systems Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: DDSI), today announced
the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Business Unit of Litton PRC,
Inc., will be integrating DDSI's Compu-Scan livescan device into Litton PRC,
Inc.'s AltaScan, the commercial derivative of the Interim Distributed Imaging
System (IDIS), its FBI developed fingerprint card scanning system.
Julie Peternick, Litton PRC, Inc.'s Vice President and General Manager of
CJIS, said, "The Compu-Scan device features cutting edge technology regarding
livescan capturing which we believe will benefit the IDIS (Interim Distributed
Imaging System) program with the FBI." Larry Brehe, Litton PRC, Inc.'s IDIS
Project Manager, identified the device as a viable alternative to flatbed
scanner technology. The IDIS project manages the transmission of electronic
fingerprint data from the State to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Pending FBI certification of Compu-Scan, Litton PRC, Inc. and DDSI intend to
announce additional distribution relationships.
Both Litton PRC, Inc. and DDSI will be presenting their systems and
devices at the 16,000 member International Association of the Chiefs of Police
Conference at the IACP annual meeting in Salt Lake City, UT, October 18-22,
1998.
DDSI's Compu-Scan, contactless capture device is based on patent pending
technology that eliminates distortion, smearing and other problems experienced
with current fingerprint capture systems. Compu-Scan is also substantially
smaller and easier to use than competitive products.
Digital Descriptor Systems, Inc. is the leading imaging supplier to the
criminal justice market with over 1,000 installations in all 50 states plus
foreign countries. DDSI recently received patent pending status on
Compu-Scan, its break-through technology of the only contactless finger
imaging capture device for the criminal justice market.
Digital Descriptor Systems, Inc., based in Langhorne, PA, designs,
develops, licenses and supports computer imaging software solutions for
criminal justice markets and the security industry domestically and worldwide.
DDSI is traded on the Nasdaq OTC Bulletin Board Market under the symbol DDSI
and can be found on the World Wide Web at ddsi-cpc.com.
Litton PRC, Inc.'s CJIS Business Unit provides value-added systems
solutions and services to the FBI and other Federal, state, and local law
enforcement agencies. These solutions and services include fingerprint
identification and storage systems, 911 emergency dispatch systems, and
tracking and analyzing criminal justice information.
