Iceman... Your analysis is mostly correct as NASDAQ is notorious for 2x trade counting and will likely never stop the shenanigans. FYI.... I am getting the trading call from several desks (due to my ongoing interest in the "THING") that AMZN is quietly telling its followers (Meeker,others,et.al) that its initial music division #'s are super strong and likely to surprise many...they are also telling some firms that their whisper #'s are too low and cash flow is stronger than anticipated. I am also sure that Vinik, et.al are gearing up for one more concerted squeeze into, and possibly after the earnings announcement. As I am mostly a consistent disbeliever in the AMZN story and a fervent short in the AMZN valuation model, I also remain a determined pragmatist and therefore reluctant to stay short here into the #'s. I maintain that Bezos will do almost anything to continue to appease the street and his fellow shareholders, regardless of the trends or facts. Be careful as I really do anticipate another round of squeezing. I believe the apparent easing of available and borrowable short-stock last week was a bad omen for the short-term direction of the "thing." If anyone wants to remain (and admirably) short....use the call/put options (Sell call..use proceeds to buy puts...then you can always buy the stock and have a directionally neutral conversion on..and be able to sell long stock when opportunistic to do so). This strategy, and its sub-components will protect you from a buy-in panic that has been known to frequent this stock in its past. Good Luck to everyone. Steve
