Was it what I said, how I said it, or the fact that I made mention of it to begin with?

Perhaps I should have directed the question to the person that made me wonder in the first place?

But how could I when I said elsewhere that I had been keeping myself from doing so?

How does one try to convey such in a non-offensive manner?

Or is it not possible to do so?
