I ran into this last night and had a personal revelation of sorts regarding the nature of the 24x7 datacenter, and how this will impact Sun, particularly the Cascade Project forward at the expense of the blue screen/local admin/reboot Windows NT.

cio.com

The article (from CIO mag) does not mention any companies or specific products, but it's easy to see where the admin crisis for IT folks is really going to cut hard against MSFT and TOWARD specifically Sun with it's RAS products, remote (web) admin, and new interop products (Cascade/Java).

With the internet being the great leveler for smaller companies as well as the globalization of business, 24x7 operation is going to become the NORM. People need and are already screaming for reliable, available and simple interop solutions. This is bad news for NT, good news for everyone else, particularly SUNW.

MSFT is arguing in court today that including one technology into another is 'good for consumers'. I suppose then that they will be happy for consumers that SUNW is providing an innovative and ascended enterprise solution for running NT services on a more robust and easier to manage platform.

BTW, Lou Dobbs (bless him) has had the presence of mind to let Scott McNealy come onto Moneyline (CNN) today to give viewers an objective synopsis of todays events with MSFT. :)
