Ikar Mineral Corp. Announces 1998 Work Program Update
NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 1998 --Ikar Mineral Corp. (OTC BB:IKAR) announced that its 1998 work program, referred to in earlier releases, is continuing as scheduled.
Currently all trenching, sampling and adit reinforcements are nearing completion. On-site facilities, including food and bakery kitchens have been established. A new roadway, to accommodate heavy equipment, has been constructed from the base camp to the mouth of the adit.
SMS drilling personnel inspected the site and are currently evaluating on-site preparations. A prior extended drilling contract has delayed the initial target dates for drilling on the Ikar project. The required drilling equipment is now undergoing maintenance and repairs before its arrival at the Ikar site.
The company has been advised by its professional engineers, in Tajikistan, that this delay will not effect its program schedule as the drill schedule has been changed to 24 hours, around the clock, with a completion time of 28 days.
The company believes that this scheduled, 15 hole (approx. 2,500 meters), drill program will further identify and substantiate earlier workings performed by Soviet and Tajik geologists and engineers through the 1970's and late 1980's.
In conjunction with this drill program, a pre-feasibility study has been initiated with Arctec Engineering Ltd., of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
