COPPER HILL CORP ("CUHL-Z") - 1998 Exploration Program Begun At The Turks Gut Cu-Ag - Property, Newfoundland
Copper Hill Corporation ("CUHL") is pleased to announce that its 1998 exploration program on the Turks Gut Showing has begun. The corporation's 100 percent-owned Turks Gut property is located within the Avalon Tectonostratigraphic Zone of the Appalachian Orogenic Belt, approximately 37 km W of St. John's, Newfoundland. The property, consisting of 54 claims covering 3340 hectares, is centred on Marysville Ridge and is readily accessible by roads and seawater. The showings are hosted by Late Proterozoic mafic volcanic and volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks of the Harbour Main Group. The copper sulphide mineralization consists of chalcopyrite-chalcocite-bornite veins/stockworks and disseminations with rare native copper. The mineralization appears to fill shear structures that are secondary and tertiary to major regional fault systems, and there is potential for copper concentrations in primary permeable horizons such as flow tops; as such the mineralization is very reminiscent of the world class Keeweenawan copper mining district in Northern Michigan. In the mid 19th century there was minor (31 tons) production of copper ore from a shaft-adit system (Adit number 1) at the NE end of the property and an adit (Adit number 2) 3.5 km SSW of Adit number 1. Prospectors staked the northeastern part of property in 1995 covering Adit number 1 and carried out prospecting, geochemical sampling and VLF-EM and MAG surveys. This work resulted in discovery of a SE extension 120 m from Adit number 1 with grab samples of up to 1.32 percent Cu and 1.73oz/t Ag, and indicated assay values of 13.7 percent Cu and 10.5 oz/t Ag in a 7 m wide chip sample over Adit number 1.
CUHL optioned the original property in 1996 and staked additional claims to the SW covering Adit number 2. Exploration by CUHL in 1996 and 1997 included prospecting and grab and chip sampling and an airborne MAG and EM. geophysical survey. A new zone of disseminated bornite and chalcocite, ("OBD Zone"), was discovered during this work near Adit number 2.

All samples assayed showed anomalous gold values up to 0.965 g/ton. Samples were assayed at Eastern Analytical Ltd., Springdale, Newfoundland and Bondar-Clegg, North Vancouver, B.C.
The 1998 exploration program is based on Max-Min geophysical and soil geochemical surveys over the property along with selective chip sampling. Results will be released following analysis and interpretation of the collected samples and data.
