Question:

For anyone that might be thinking that 3 1/2" floppy drives will be used and included in new PC's for many years to come because of the plethora of cheap 3 1/2" floppy disks out there in the world, keep this question in mind:

Once OEM PC manufacturers stopped including 5 1/4" floppy drives in new systems, how long was it before you decided to either take the drive out of your system, and/or stop using it altogether?

Remember that for a time, both 3 1/2" and 5 1/4" floppy drives were included as standard in new PC's.

I remember calling up my old college professor a few years ago, and asked him whether he would like it if I "donated" my stash of 5 1/4" floppies, never mind that they still worked perfectly, he said "No thanks".

I had better hurry up and donate my 3 1/2" floppies while I still can <G>.

regards,

Philip
