I think most corporate computer users have considered Y2K and planned 1999 as the last chance to phase out older mainframe and PC equipment. I also think 1999 would be an excellent year to add backup storage capacity to existing systems. Many have probably budgeted capital dollars to do more than routine replacement in 1999.

There may also be corporate non computer users that have put off the efficiencies of computers until after Y2K.

I think technology changes will have the biggest impact on future sales but I never seem able to see them coming. My new cable modem brings some possibilities to mind. It transfers audio and video as fast as my old modem transferred written messages. I can imagine how nice SI would be with audio/video messages. Some of the excellent researchers on this thread must have pretty tired eyes after going through as many threads as they do.
