I agree with you Edward!! But further to that, NOVL should work intensely with Lucent to make the NDS/Switching integration so attractive, smooth, slick, and high profile, that other switching and even router mftrs would be drooling to sign a similar deal with Novell for NDS integration.

The problem I always see is that a deal like this is announced and then no one hears anymore about it! Novell should not let this announcement simply collect dust and people a year from now ask "what ever happened to that Lucent NDS deal". They MUST make this integration progress become very attractive technology-wise and high profile. The switching customers for Lucent and Cisco MUST see how NDS integration is critical for them.

I think that this Lucent announcement is almost as important as the NetWare 5 anouncement. Novell's future is in its NDS leadership! Once Novell has clearly acquired a strong and unvbreakable hold of the DS marketshare and educated the world as to the true power of a DS, then Novell's other products will sell like hotcakes. Why, because the IT shops will have put a "must have" criteria in all their future technology purchase criteria list. That "must have" criteria will be: "Successful IT product must be NDS aware". And guess what product will be NDS aware vs which ones wont?
