I agree. DVD-RAM will probably replace magnetic media for the purposes of archiving and backup. I've been considering getting one for my wife's Mac, for just that purpose.

But as you know, there are a lot of other applications for magnetic media, where something like DVD-RAM wouldn't do the job.
