Charles, the fact that, since the big finds in the mid-80's, the increase in amount of proven reserves has been far outstripped by the increase in amount of consumption, is pretty convincing to me regarding the future long-term direction of oil prices. There will always be a lot of short-term (six months) volatility, of course. Oil consumers should look at this period as a window of opportunity to plan for the inevitable. In the macro sense, this might mean putting more money into alternative sources of energy. For example, our local electric utility is now constructing its first "wind farm". In the micro sense, this might mean looking carefully at energy-consuming durable purchases in terms of high efficiency operation. Gashog sports utility vehicle owners, beware--when gas prices start moving upward (and especially if there are jumps in prices), the value of this asset class is going to drop like a rock. =+=+=Norm
