belly up carp? PINC and USRF are beginning to smell a lot like Christmas.

PINC: attempting to be a Y2K play in a market where even real Y2K companies are having a tough time. Advertising unique, one-of-a-kind software&#151don't let anybody tell ya that Symantec and a half-dozen other legitimate companies with cash flow and marketing are doing the same thing. Remember to ask for your free ginzu steak knives when ordering. Frosting on the cake is heavy promotion by notorious paid tout, John "Bountyman" WesterG.

USRF: an integral part of the game plan is one of those infamous, inevitable short squeezes (should I continue?). Company advertises unique wireless internet access technology. For a tech company, their website says nothing about their stuff they're quite proud of. A few ho-hum specs - mostly IR "invest NOW!" fluff. One aspect of the business plan is buying ISPs in really remote, out-of-the-way places, like Canon City, CO. Ever been there? Modernization means using nylon ropes for the hangin's. You can bet that all 17 computer users there, including the two pigs and the town goat, find AOL to be just enough of a challenge.
