In another sign of the times, both AMAT and KLAC canceled their booth space at Semicon SW. Several other companies told me they considered doing so, but didn't want to forfeit the upfront fees. Meanwhile, a different group of companies rushed announcements in order to make them at SW rather than at Semicon Japan in December. Katherine
