The Globe and Mail reports in a Stock In The News corporate profile in its Tuesday edition that Barrick Gold is taking on more lustre. Reporter Carolyn Leitch says that Barrick's share price has soared to a 52-week high from the year's low in less than six weeks. Some gold bugs believe the stock will continue to shine, while more bearish analysts are encouraging investors to take profits. Research Capital analyst Manford Mallory says that gold stocks moved so high that he has placed a long-term "hold" on the group, while advising investors to take profits in the short term. He says that typically, the only way to make money has proved to be trading on the ups and downs of gold prices. He says that within the gold stocks group, Barrick remains one of his favourite stocks. Mr. Mallory says that Barrick has good financials and it stands out as a nice, big, liquid company with low costs. He says that Barrick has not only been successful at hedging, but its hedging process is better than others have tried in the industry.
