TLAB's Birck, in his CNBC interview, stated that CIEN management wanted a share price in the 30's or 40's for buyout. If CIEN has such critical/unique edge in bandwidth technology, why isn't anyone buying it? However, check out the insider trading data from SEC. Very odd that employees have done next to nothing since August meltdown. This could be basis for insider belief that the stock is truly undervalued. The Delaware action may also mean that CIEN is preparing for hostile takeover (because of oversold stock price) by taking precautions now (amending dead-hand bylaws). This may also be a sign that the company's lawyers have forbidden insider transactions while deal is in the making. Does anyone else believe that a lull in insider trading like this could be a portent of buyout or merger activity? For my part, I've added 2,000 shares between 8 1/2 and 14 in past several weeks.
