Thanks for the information, Jesse. If anyone could find out what is or isn't relevant you would. My post wasn't meant to be provocative, just a wild thought <g>.

Some may enjoy taking a look at a slide of oolite.

Another area where both ferrous deposits and kimberlites have been found are in the Pasquia Hills. That one seems to have more similarities with the Clear Hills formations. Although when Mother Nature repeats herself, she never does it in quite the same way.

"The largest of the Upper Cretaceous Fe, Fe-Ti or Mn-Fe deposits in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin is at Clear Hills north of Peace River, Alberta. This deposit comprises a Minette-type, oolitic iron-rich bed up to 6.7 m thick in Upper Cretaceous Bad Heart sandstone, and resources are substantial. Another large Fe-Mn resource is in east-central Saskatchewan near Pasquia Hills, where Mn-and Fe-rich nodular concretion-bearing beds occur in the basal 100 m of the Upper Cretaceous Riding Mountain Formation.
Both the Clear Hills and Pasquia Hills deposits are believed to be the result of sedimentary chemical precipitation."
