The leading smart radio companies are Analog Devices, Harris, Airnet, Watkins Johnson, and Ron Carney's Tantivy, to name a few. Smart waveforms (orthogonal CDMA) and turbo algorithms will allow Qualcomm to create 2 megabit modems next year for their pdQ cellphones, which also contain a Palm3 organizer. Within the next couple of years, you will be able to plug your notebook into your CDMA cellphone and get a T-1 anywhere in SprintPCS territory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing like a bit of turbo orthogonality in Piha wave functions to get things jumping!
No wonder Microsoft was trying to buy in recently to Palm operating system technology. Incidentally, there was robust defence of Microsoft on CNN Moneyline today, basically telling the state nosey parkers to get lost and Sun, Netscape etc to get with the idea of competition.
Michael, I'd say L M Ericsson wants CDMA in their pocket just as soon as they can. Buying time for GSM as long as they can. All very difficult, untenable and they are up the creek without a paddle.
