Jules,

BUYING OPPORTUNITY?

I am thinking that we might get a nice buying opportunity for Phoenix on Friday. Although the company has pre-announced earnings and also stated that they will be taking a write off for some Sand's R&D, Zacks continues to post old numbers. The following was my Zack's update for today.

PTEC: PHOENIX TECH is expected to report earnings for its
fiscal quarter ending 09/98 on 10/23/98. The Zacks
consensus estimate of earnings per share for PTEC's 09/98
quarter is $0.15.

Note that Zacks expects earnings out on Friday but they will be released on Thursday after the close. (BTW will you be participating in the conference call?)

Additionally, sites such as the "Earnings Whispers.com" are giving crazy numbers of .20 per share for the quarter.

Although individuals that have researched the new Phoenix/Award/Sand company know better a lot of others might be believing the hype.

If that is the case and people have high expectations from Zacks and others, we might see some serious selling on Friday. As I have said previously, I believe that strong accumulating is occurring in Phoenix.

Could it be that some would like to see a lot of investors disappointed in the earnings so that shares could be purchased at lower prices? Do you still think it's "institutional buying" or is someone expecting a major product/customer announcement on the earnings date? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

The best,

Marc
