About Japan, I wouldn't count out a fairly dramatic comeback at some point. When is anyone's guess, but they are doing some wonderful things like massive bandwidth infrastructure projects all over the country. The government is now "purchasing" three years' time for the banks to get it together. Everything works the way it should, it has an intensely intelligent and hard-working workforce, and there is still $9 trillion (with a T) sitting around in postal savings accounts (the largest single pool of capital in the world). It's possible that we've seen a bottom in Japan, though I'm not staking any serious money on it.
