Thats exactly what we were doing earlier Fred. Snooping around for
factual data like you did and from what everyone involved reported
the modem sale was quite good and beat the others.

Actually if you pay attention to Mr Rakesh Sood's (pseud's) report
his cause for concern was the sale in the last two weeks. Now if he
is deriving his conclusion from sales in the Bay area then I think
most probably than not modem sales must have tapered down after
Christmas. Firstly due to the lousy weather and secondly because all
the post Christmas sales were giving away hard drives and older model
computers for ridiculous prices. And knowing the techy nature of
the Silicon Valley customer he/she would have opted to buy something else
which was a bargain for those few days. Modems definitely were not
being dumped in those sales as per the ads and my visit to the
stores.
Come to think of it, a two-three week slowdown in the sales of a product which
(modems) which has repeatedly been held against USR as low margin product
is going to cause the earnings of USR to slip by a 3-5% (few pennies) ???
Nowhere has it been suggested that the Systems division sales has
faltered etc.

Unless I a really need a shakeup in my trust of the USR management's
outlook guidance I look at it as another pseud(o) report from Mr. Sood.
