Mr. Gilder and thread: the October Data Communications has a schematic representation of the New Public Network. It confirms my belief that the longhaul will be ~dumb (IP over DWDM) and the intelligence will move to the edge of the network,in the ATM edge switches. Having said that, it would seem that a potentially explosive niche would be a product to granulate telco billing according to ATM class of service. A company called AceComm(nasdaq: ACEC) is currently developing that type of product. (BTW-the company reports today). As the circuit switched network gravitates to a packet based network, isn't this a potentially hot product? Thanks, Leeza Rodriguez
