Bonior sort of fits the demagogue on the left role, but I doubt that he will choose to run; he'd probably like to be speaker himself. A former governor on the right? Who do you have in mind? I'm drawing a blank. Agree regarding your assesment of Cuomo, Nunn, Bradley. Maybe Kemp can bolt and run as a liberal Democrat. On the Colin Powell candidacy, I guess I just don't get it. Schwartzkopf planned and ran the Gulf War and simply retired. But somehow we get this big deal about Powell like he was Eisenhower and Marshall combined and had just defeated the Axis. Did I sleep through something? He may be a nice guy and all, but it sure seems to me that this "groundswell" of support is a load of public relations hogwash. Hell, if popularity alone is our criteria let's nominate Michael Jordan, I'll bet he has even higher positives than anyone else we could name.
