"Also, I doubt neophytes have the necessary money to invest through him."
You don't have to invest through him for Fleck to lose you money. Through all his media appearances, he has developed a following of people who were negative on the market and became even more negative on this drop. They lost money, or lost opportunity, because of their belief that Fleck was right. Fleck wasn't right, and he has been wrong forever about the general market direction. Somehow he hasn't been blown away by the market averages, according to him, so he must be a very astute short seller.
He reminds of Jimmy Rodgers, who is the main reason I have cnbc blocked at home. I used to get into heated arguements about inflation with 2 investors I know well, because they believed Rodgers, and they would use his line of logic. The man is an idiot. I have no idea what he is saying about inflation these days, but this went on from about 1994 to late 1996. Rodgers was everywhere howling about how the crb would explode up. I seriously don't know if he is still on cnbc, but I see he still has a column in Worth. I can't imagine he can keep a job, but I understand his girlfriend is a 25 year old knockout, which says something about his powers of persuasion.
Unfortunately, I blocked cnbc, then became crippled by SI. I am working on it. |
